Making Music with Found Sounds

Music with Found Sounds

Led by Hyacinth Nil

July 26 2020

Join Hyacinth Nil as they walk you through their process for making music using sounds found from their immediate environment. Starting with a few simple tools and working up to more sophisticated methods of processing audio and sound design to build out a small song.

If you want to follow along you'll need a microphone and a Digital Audio Workstation (Hyacinth will be using Ableton Live but a lot of these techniques can be applied in any DAW you like). Some pre-recorded sounds you're interested in doing some sound design with would help but are not required. This workshop will mostly focus on sound design and while we will be making music, the nitty gritty bits of how a song is constructed will be secondary.

Hyacinth Nil is a musician, game developer, and educator. They make music under the name Luciform, and have a preoccupation with using strange sounds in strange context.
